G.I. Bill

How Do I Add My Daughter to My Post 9/11 GI Bill?

Q: I want to add my daughter under my GI Bill for school. How do I go about doing that?

A: First, you have to have the Post 9/11 GI Bill as that is the only GI Bill that has a transfer option in it. Second, even if you have the Post 9/11 GI Bill, you might not qualify for the transfer option.

Is It Too Late For My Father to Pass His GI Bill to Me?

Q: My father would like to transfer his GI Bill benefits to me, but we're not sure if he's still able to. He served 20 years active duty in the Army and retired in 1997. Is this a possibility for us or is it too late because so much time has passed? Please help. Thanks.

How Does My Spouse Transfer Post 9/11 GI Bill Benefits to Our Son?

Q: How does my active duty spouse transfer his GI Bill to our 17-year old son for college? Can we split the money between our sons? Does he have to transfer the money before he retires? How long do we have to use it before it expires? Does it expire? Thank you!

Why Can't I Transfer My Post 9/11 GI Bill Entitlements to My Son?

Q: Th VA is telling me that because I retired with 20, I can't do a transfer of my Post 9/11 GI Bill entitlements.  I'm 70% disabled, no longer in, and want to give my GI Bill to my son so he can go to school. The VA said I had to do the transfer before I got out, but they were still doing changes to the New 9/11 GI Bill at the time.

So I want to know why, when I served 20 years with an honorable discharge and 70 % disabled, I can't do the transfer. I thought that was one of my entitlements to serving.
